EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps people heal from the distress caused by traumatic memories and adverse life experiences. It is recognized by the World Health Organization and the American Psychiatric Association as an effective treatment for trauma.

What is EMDR?

EMDR therapy does not require you to talk in detail about a distressing event. Instead, it uses bilateral stimulation — such as guided eye movements — to help the brain reprocess stuck memories so they no longer carry the same emotional charge.

The goal is not to erase memories, but to change how they are stored in the brain so that they feel more like a distant past event rather than something happening right now. Many clients describe a sense of relief and emotional distance from experiences that once felt overwhelming.

About Me

Healing is possible

My primary area of specialization is trauma, with a strong focus on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). With more than 20 years of experience in mental and behavioral health, I bring a broad and unique clinical perspective shaped by extensive experience across individuals, families, leadership, and organizational settings.

I recognize the sacred space I am entrusted with when people invite me into their lives during some of their most vulnerable and transformative seasons. I work with adults ages 18 and older to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel both encouraged and appropriately challenged as they pursue healing, growth, and greater wholeness.

In addition to my clinical work, I am a certified clinical supervisor and leadership development consultant. I am passionate about helping individuals and leaders develop the insight, resilience, and relational skills necessary to thrive personally and professionally.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: healthier individuals create healthier relationships; healthier marriages and families create healthier businesses and organizations; and healthier families, organizations, and communities create a stronger society.

Support Groups

Therapeutic Support Groups: Healing from Coercive Control and Narcissistic Abuse

Coercive control and narcissistic abuse leave deep, often invisible wounds — patterns of manipulation, isolation, and emotional harm that can be difficult to name and even harder to heal from alone. These therapeutic support groups provide a structured, trauma-informed space where survivors can find validation, community, and a path forward.

Facilitated by Kim Van Wuffen, LPC, CCTSF, CCTSS, these groups integrate EMDR-informed approaches to help participants process trauma, rebuild a sense of self, and develop the tools needed to recognize and break free from harmful relational patterns.

Groups are kept intentionally small to foster trust and safety. Participation is open to adults 18 and older who have experienced coercive control or narcissistic abuse in personal or professional relationships. Contact Kim to inquire about current group availability and enrollment.
